The monkey's off my back

Today is the day I have been waiting for.... finally got the monkey off my tournament back. Played the $4000 guarantee at Pechanga this morning. 245 players started and we finally chopped $325 each with 13 left (they were paying 20). At one point I had a run for about 20 minutes when I could not miss a hand. I had pocket J's hold up against two other players... I reraised a big bet with AK suited and got the original raiser to fold... at one point I had guys folding winning hands because they thought I had the nuts. The most memorable hand was after we were already in the money... we were down to two tables and the blinds were 3000/6000. I had just over 5 times the big blind when I decided to push in with AK unsuited. The player to my left called with a smaller stack and to my surprise one of the big stacks also called. I turned over my AK.. the guy to my left had KJ and the big stacked rolled over 2 Aces. A king came on the flop... the turn was a blank and the river was the case King giving me and the small stack trip Kings to crack the Aces and my AK beat his KJ. The $325 chop won't get us back to even but we are much closer. One or two more tournament or cash wins and we'll be back in the black. Feeling much better today especially knowing how well I have been playing it's nice to have it pay off :)

  1. I've got a bad habit of relaxing my play after a win -- or even just after a big hand -- sounds like you're better than that, playing the same game whether you're lucky or not. Carry on! :)
